The Nursery Greenhouse Grower will be based out of our Bellevue location.

 

Overview:

The Greenhouse Grower directly supervises all aspects of greenhouse production and coordinates daily activities of the production staff. Duties include management functions such as projecting, purchasing, budgeting, maintenance of equipment, complying with all federal and state regulations as pertinent to the industry, inventory management and other supervisory duties as required.

 

Specific Responsibilities Include:

· Project sales needs, design planting combinations and oversee the production program for annuals, perennials, hanging baskets and containerized plants for internal and external needs.

· Schedule and order all components needed for annual production.

· Order all finished annual, perennial, and tropical needs from outside vendors.

· Monitor nutrient requirements as well as insect and disease levels; apply pesticides as necessary for plant health and growth.

· Monitor and maintain Chemigation system and greenhouse structure integrity.

· Hire, train and discipline the production staff. Provide a vision for production staff for quality, efficiency and continued growth.

· Conduct a monthly safety meeting program with staff, striving for Behavior Based Safety Awareness and 0% accidents.

· Keep accurate records of production activities.

· Monitor labor needs and schedule staff appropriately.

· Cross-consult with clients for maintenance, construction and retail as requested for flower installations and disease/plant identification.

· Oversee fulfillment of special orders and internal deliveries of annual, perennial and tropical plants.

· Oversee custom planting production for maintenance, landscaper and retail clients.

· Stay current with new plant introductions, chemicals and greenhouse production methods.

 

Qualifications:

· A background in growing and production of vegetative plants, a degree in Ornamental Horticulture is preferred.

· People management skills.

· USDA Pesticide License with RU and CH categories.

· Bi-lingual skills not necessary but are a plus.

· Knowledge of vendors and supply resources.

· Customer service skills, sales knowledge and experience preferred.

· Ability to perform repetitive physical duties and lift a minimum of 50lbs.

· Proficiency in computer skills, especially Microsoft Office.
